a little about me,…

My name is Iveliz, Welcome to My Blog!

I am from a beautiful island you all know as Puerto Rico. Raised in New York in a household of 8 I am the eldest daughter of Elena & Alejandro.  My mother remarried when I was 5 and soon after came my 3 younger sisters and two step siblings.

Raised in a mixed household (Puerto Rican/Ecuadorian/Colombian) I absorbed a fusion mixture of cuisine cooking.

I remember being four years old around the holidays when my mother thought I was old enough to start “guayando” yautía, green guineos and platanos verdes for my moms pastelles recipe she’d make for our traditional holiday events.

At 5, my kindergarten graduation present was learning how to make my “moro” a traditional blend of rice and beans in PR spices.

I must say… THANKS MOM! I wouldn’t be the cook I am today if it wasn’t for your persistent nagging about learning how to cook so “my husband doesn’t leave me” haha mom real funny… NOT!

My hobbies are… Blogging about food, Cooking, Photography, Writing, Collecting wearable art, Reading, Stalking the Williams-Sonoma Website, Traveling, Sightseeing, EXTREME Coupon Clipping (You know… for the sake of designer shoes) And Being a Tourist & Food Critic In My Beautiful City of New York.

I hope you will be enjoy this ride with me as I embark on this adventurousCulinary journey

With Love, Iveliz

  1. Oh now I understand. Youre porto rican! So can you make rice and beans and post the recipe? My mom buys the box verision but if you post a recipe I can pint it out and have her make it. I never tried authentic rice and beans from a porto rican

  2. I just discovered your website and I love it! I absolutely love Latin cousine, and I look forward to more of your recipes and ideas! Thanks also for your pantry and shopping tips and for the links you posted as to where to find Latin foods and produce. I’m originally from NYC and I now live in an area where it’s near impossible to find these items. I can’t wait to try your recipes for the spices and condiments! TFS!

  3. Just wanted to wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day and to let you know I have awarded you the Liebster Award. Check out my post today for more details. Love you blog, keep up the good work.
